THE HORTUS

Start: Research a plant from Objectwise in the Hortus using the objectwise cards. We then visually move the sidewalk plant to another place in the Hortus. What would happen if the sidewalk plant grew in a different place among other plants? After 'moving' you do a plant interview and draw an ecosystem of the new place.

For a longer version, the entire card set can be run through at this object. To do this, students work with resources from the teaching material.

Implementation: independently under the supervision of the teacher and 1 extra supervisor from school for every 5 students, using the Objectwijs research cards and downloadable teaching materials.

LEAD HERITAGE

Vrijheid 1 .jpg

Heritage Leiden is not a museum and cannot be visited. They are of great importance to Leiden, because they are concerned with the past of Leiden and its surroundings, through the buildings in the city, the preservation of documents and the objects that archaeologists excavate. For example, the excavated Mask of Matilo, which is owned by Heritage Leiden, is located at the National Museum of Antiquities. That is why we view this object when visiting the National Museum of Antiquities. The documents of Heritage Leiden are generally kept behind closed doors for scientific research. This includes documentation of the Gravensteen in Leiden, an object which we have also included in Objectwijs with source material via Heritage Leiden.

The Gravensteen (and 't Gerecht) can be visited on your own with the class. This is a building in Leiden in the Pieterskerkkwartier. You can view the outside and with the object-wise cards you can do object research. For the possibilities of a visit to the Gravensteen inside (now of Leiden University) you can contact:  Gravensteen - Leiden University

Would you rather go to Gravensteen accompanied by a Maker of Tomorrow? That is also possible! Send an email to: info@objectwijs.nl
